Nicholas enjoys tax (he is a chartered tax adviser). He finds not-for-profit work (such as charity accounting and auditing) rewarding and challenging and is particularly skilled at guiding new charities through the complexities of complying with Charity Commission rules and guidelines, including when compiling their statutory annual reports. As a partner he oversees client work, ensuring everything is in order, and is responsible for audit compliance and staff training. He is fluent in French and German.
Elizabeth adds a commercial view to her compliance work and is happy to offer clients innovative suggestions to help solve their current problems and develop their fledgling business ideas. An accomplished businesswoman, she is an active member of two local business networking groups in and around west London; she is the firm’s marketing partner. Apart from accountancy, her passion in life is riding. Tilly, her new mount, is a fabulous stress-relieving tool and she would be happy to introduce you to her.
Robert became a partner in May 2010, having joined the firm as a trainee chartered accountant in 2003. Accountancy is his second career; he used to be in the retail industry. With his portfolio of clients, he spends a lot of his time on audits, including charity audits, and prepares accounts for limited companies. He continues to develop an interest in harder tax cases including investigations and negotiating with HMRC. Outside work he enjoys life as a father with a young daughter; he is a keen cyclist and plays golf now and again.
William joined us in September 2007, a year after qualifying with a BA Hons in applied accounting at Oxford Brookes University. He has a portfolio of clients, preparing their final accounts and tax returns for final review by a partner. He particularly enjoys ensuring that his clients utilise all the benefits available to them, and exploring all possible ways to minimise their tax bills. He was an accountant before he moved to London (his home town is Freetown, Sierra Leone) and he is fascinated by the contrast which he finds between the business cultures of Sierra Leone and UK. Football is his main outside interest; he supports Chelsea and has captained the firm’s own five-a-side team to victory in a local league.
Known internally as Liz M so as not to be confused with Elizabeth Ridge, Liz deals with all aspects of our clients' payrolls and manages our in house company secretary support service, filing annual returns and keeping records up to date at Companies House. When she first joined us in 2004 she worked four days a month but, as payroll work has become increasingly complex, she now works two days a week (on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). She returned to accounting after bringing up her children. She also works for a bookshop in Richmond and, on match days, at Twickenham stadium.
